Reading in room 9A

Shared Reading was in Room 9A with Mrs H this week. We read the book 'Bears'. It taught us about Polar Bears, Panda Bears, and Brown Bears. Our activity was to compare two of the bears we learnt about using a Venn Diagram.

Our Big Book for the week
Manaia went home and did extra research to add to
her Venn Diagram

We wanted to find our more information because we found this book really interesting. We looked at this video online of bears catching salmon.

Values awards

We really enjoyed having our Whānau Hui in Room 9A on Monday, so we have decided to keep having it there!

Here are our value awards winner from this week:

Pokemon Cards

Hey team, here are the rules for Pokemon cards - starting Monday
  • Students can bring 5-10 cards to school
  • Students to only trade within their own group i.e Year 1 & 2, Year 3 & 4 or Year 5-8
  • If students are bringing more than 10 cards they are told not to bring any for the next week
  • If they continue to do so parents are contacted and they are not to bring any cards for the rest of the term

ASB Getwise programme

This week we are all being visited by Amy the personal trainer. She is training us to be cashletes!
She is helping us to learn about money, and how eftpos cards work. She also helped us learn how to spot if we were spending our money wisely... or not!

Moving around!

For free writing time this morning we could choose which space we wanted to work in. If we were Poutama Wha or Rima we could even choose to go outside! We are so glad the sunshine came out for it =)

Sketching

Last week we sketched these beautiful trees. We were all very proud of our efforts. It was actually easier than we all thought.

Professor Jackson O'Connell

Jackson brought cornflour to school to show us one of his latest experiments. If you put your finger into the mixture slowly it is soft but when you put your finger in quickly it is hard! Thanks Jackson for a fun experiment. We look forward to the next one!

Spelling Test Week 11

Just a reminder to everyone that there will be a spelling test next week. Practice your word list at home, particularly the tricky ones! Good luck!

Reading awards

Well done to these Room 8 tamariki that have been awarded their "reading for 25 nights" sticker. Super reading!
